Description:
42nd International Kitzbuehel Horn mountain run. To get to the summit at 1,996 m, athletes have to deal with 1,234 vertical meters and gradients of up to 20%. The course record from the city center to the TV station has been continuously improved. From Peter Heron (GER) in the first run in 1979 (1:04:12 h) up to the mountain running legend Jonathan Wyatt “the best mountain runner of all time” from New Zealand, ran in 2000, the approximate time of 55:58 minutes. 2001 another New Zealander Melissa Moon reached the summit in 1:07:31. Running the Horn in 2009, the 25th race, Kenyan Geoffrey Ndungu made it in 58.20 min. in finishing in front of two of his countrymen. The women’s race was won by experienced Carina Lilge-Leutner-AUT 1:14:33h
