To really thrive in life, people need real experiences and challenges – not just virtual ones. Our collective future brightens when they find them. This is why we work hard at Genesee Valley to expand and continuously improve our high-quality services and programs. We purposely impose very high standards upon ourselves. In the process, we incur a wide array of ongoing expenses from the costs of helmets and harnesses to canoes and tents, along with the upkeep and updating of the buildings and facilities. In the face of this, we nevertheless strive to provide programs that remain affordable for all individuals and groups.

As an educational non-profit organization, Genesee Valley has been serving children and adults for 37 years. We are located in Parkton, Maryland, just 25 minutes north of Baltimore City and 30 minutes south of York, Pennsylvania. One of our primary goals is to develop more cohesive and effective groups whether they exist in the classroom, at the office, in a community on the field.

Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center is a nonprofit organization founded by Tom LaMonica in 1981. Tom was a teacher and coach at Friends School of Baltimore and passionately served as our leader until his passing in September 2010. We continue his vision to provide opportunities for learners of all ages to experience success and growth through shared outdoor experiences.

Genesee Valley is dedicated to an experiential approach to education that allows students and adults to work better as a group in the classroom, on their team, in their family, or at the office. In all of our programs we actively address communication, healthy risk-taking, confidence building, persistence, leadership, and creative problem solving.
